A 5.4 magnitude quake jolted near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Wednesday around midnight, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the region at 13:45 UTC (00:45 local time), was centered approximately 168 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 8 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.2 but later upgraded to 5.4.
