Update: Earthquake jolts region close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia on June 9 – 5.1 magnitude detected

A 5.1 magnitude quake struck near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Tuesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook at 19:49 UTC (06:49 local time), with its epicenter approximately 165 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.2 event, but later downgraded it to 5.1.
