A 5.1 magnitude quake shook close to South Sandwich Islands region on Friday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor jolted the area at 18:58 UTC (16:58 local time). It occurred at a depth of 71 km with the epicenter of South Sandwich Islands region.
