A 5.0 magnitude quake struck close to Saipan on Monday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor rattled the area at 10:52 UTC (20:52 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter about 187 km east-northeast of Saipan.
