A 6.0 magnitude quake shook near Severo-Kuril’sk on Sunday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which slammed the area at 10:41 UTC (20:41 local time), was centered roughly 111 km southeast of Severo-Kuril’sk. It occurred at a depth of 18 km. The magnitude was originally reported as 6.1 but later downgraded to 6.0.
