SUCHIATE, Chis. — A 5.3 magnitude quake struck near Brisas Barra de Suchiate on Sunday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor jolted the region at 02:18 UTC (20:18 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter roughly 97 km southwest of Brisas Barra de Suchiate.

Quakes last week

Last week, there have been 44 earthquakes with a magnitude 2.5 or greater centered nearby, three of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The biggest, a 7.3 magnitude tremor, was recorded close to Puerto Madero on Jul. 17.
