Thursday afternoon, a 5.6 magnitude quake was recorded close to Tambolaka, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted at 09:04 UTC (17:04 local time), with its epicenter situated about 77 km south of Tambolaka and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.7 event, but later downgraded it to 5.6.
