AGUSAN DEL NORTE, Caraga — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Kitcharao around midday Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The tremor hit the area at 04:44 UTC (12:44 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 6 km south of Kitcharao.

Past week’s quakes
In the past week, two tremors greater than magnitude 2.5 have been centered in the region. The stronger, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake, was detected near Jabonga on Aug. 21. The other, measuring 5.1, jolted close to Alegria on Aug. 21.
