A 5.1 magnitude quake struck near Joshīmath on Thursday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 08:16 UTC (16:16 local time). The epicenter was roughly 119 km northeast of Joshīmath, at a depth of 10 km.
