EAST SERAM REGENCY, Maluku — A 5.1 magnitude quake jolted close to Masohi on Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the area at 23:17 UTC (08:17 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter about 132 km east-northeast of Masohi.

Two quakes closeby last week

In the past week, there have been two tremors greater than magnitude 2.5 centered in the same area. The largest, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake, hit prior to this quake, while the other, measuring 4.4, rattled on Jul. 1.
