Earthquake of magnitude 6.5 registered close to Abepura, Indonesia on Aug. 12

SARMI REGENCY, Papua — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 6.5 magnitude quake occurred near Abepura Tuesday afternoon.

The tremor struck the area at 08:24 UTC (17:24 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter situated approximately 189 km west-northwest of Abepura.
