Sept. 30: Earthquake measuring 5.0 rattles region close to Kupang, Indonesia

KUPANG REGENCY, East Nusa Tenggara — A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred near Kupang on Wednesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor struck the area at 10:58 UTC (18:58 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was approximately 27 km north of Kupang and occurred at a depth of 19 km.

One quake with a magnitude 4.5 was detected in the region. It was recorded near Naisano Dua on Sep. 28.
