A 5.1 magnitude quake was detected near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Friday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 14:23 UTC (01:23 local time), was centered about 168 km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
