A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to South Sandwich Islands region on Thursday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 00:25 UTC (22:25 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was of South Sandwich Islands region and occurred at a depth of 61 km.
