Seismic activity on Sept. 18: Earthquake close to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia registered – magnitude 5.2

A 5.2 magnitude quake was recorded near Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Thursday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which shook the area at 20:53 UTC (07:53 local time), was centered roughly 149 km east of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
