Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake jolts near Vilyuchinsk, Russia on Sept. 16

A 5.0 magnitude quake was detected close to Vilyuchinsk Tuesday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 06:05 UTC (17:05 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was situated about 165 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk and occurred at a depth of 35 km.
