5.3 magnitude earthquake registered near Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Aug. 23

A 5.3 magnitude quake occurred close to Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Sunday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 11:22 UTC (10:22 local time). The epicenter was south of Mid-Atlantic Ridge, at a depth of 10 km.

Past week’s tremor

One more quake with a magnitude 5.3 was recorded in the area. It was also detected close to Mid-Atlantic Ridge on Aug. 22.
