Update: Earthquake hits region close to Jurm, Afghanistan on April 18 – 5.4 magnitude registered

JURM, Badakhshan — A 5.4 magnitude quake struck near Jurm on Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor shook the area at 02:54 UTC (07:24 local time). It occurred at a depth of 201 km with the epicenter about 38 km south of Jurm. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later upgraded it to 5.4.
