Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake strikes near Tatsugō, Japan on July 2

A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded close to Tatsugō Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor jolted at 07:17 UTC (16:17 local time), with its epicenter located roughly 102 km north-northwest of Tatsugō and a depth of 10 km.

Quakes last week

During the past week, the area has experienced 28 earthquakes with a magnitude 2.5 or greater. The biggest, a 5.6 magnitude tremor, shook the same region prior to this quake.
