Oct. 5: Earthquake measuring 5.0 shakes region close to the Fiji Islands

NAITASIRI, Central Division — A 5.0 magnitude quake hit near the Fiji Islands on Monday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

At 20:22 UTC (08:22 local time), a tremor jolted the area at a depth of 519 km, with its epicenter south of the Fiji Islands.
