Update: 5.5 magnitude earthquake strikes close to Vilyuchinsk, Russia on Aug. 6

Wednesday night, a 5.5 magnitude quake was detected close to Vilyuchinsk, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which hit the area at 10:43 UTC (21:43 local time), was centered approximately 189 km south-southeast of Vilyuchinsk. It occurred at a depth of 10 km.
