Earthquake of magnitude 5.2 detected near Ruteng, Indonesia on Aug. 23

A 5.2 magnitude quake hit close to Ruteng on Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 21:20 UTC (05:20 local time), with its epicenter approximately 48 km northeast of Ruteng and a depth of 10 km.

Tremors last week

60 tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or greater have been recorded in the region over the last week, three of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The biggest, a 5.8 magnitude quake, was registered in the same area on Aug. 20.
