Update: 5.2 magnitude earthquake jolts close to Ozernovskiy, Russia on July 30

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.2 magnitude quake occurred near Ozernovskiy Wednesday night.

A tremor struck the area at 12:01 UTC (23:01 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located roughly 187 km east-southeast of Ozernovskiy and occurred at a depth of 6 km.

Over the last week, the region has experienced 26 earthquakes of magnitude 2.5 or greater, three of them larger than magnitude 5.5. The strongest, a 5.8 magnitude quake, was registered close to Vilyuchinsk prior to this quake.
