Update: Seismic activity on June 24 – 5.7 magnitude earthquake near Punta Cana, Dominican Republic detected

HIGÜEY, La Altagracia Province — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.7 magnitude quake struck close to Punta Cana Tuesday night.

It was reported that a tremor shook the region at 02:45 UTC (21:45 local time). The epicenter was situated roughly 77 km north-northeast of Punta Cana, at a depth of 68 km.
