Update: Earthquake of 5.0 magnitude registered near Mid-Indian Ridge on Dec. 12

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.0 magnitude quake struck near Mid-Indian Ridge Friday evening.

It was reported that a tremor jolted the region at 15:34 UTC (20:34 local time). The epicenter was located of Mid-Indian Ridge, at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.9 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
