Update: Earthquake jolts region close to Basotu, Tanzania on July 9 – 5.0 magnitude reported

HANANG, Manyara Region — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.0 magnitude quake hit near Basotu Wednesday morning.

It was reported that a tremor rattled the area at 22:12 UTC (01:12 local time). The epicenter was located approximately 18 km south-southeast of Basotu, at a depth of 10 km.
