SAN MELCHOR BETAZA, Oax. — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.8 magnitude quake occurred close to San Melchor Betaza on Saturday around midday.

At 17:58 UTC (11:58 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 67 km, with its epicenter roughly 3 km west-southwest of San Melchor Betaza.
