HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a preliminary 2.1 magnitude quake struck near Petrolia Friday evening.

The tremor shook at 9:20 p.m. (8:20 p.m. local time), with its epicenter situated approximately 35 miles west of Petrolia and a depth of 4 miles.
