HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA — A preliminary 2.1 magnitude quake was reported near Petrolia Friday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 9:20 p.m. (8:20 p.m. local time), the region was shook by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 4 miles, with its epicenter about 35 miles west of Petrolia.
