Update: Earthquake measuring 5.1 shakes area near Sechura, Peru on Sept. 16

SECHURA PROVINCE, Piura — Tuesday night, a 5.1 magnitude quake was registered near Sechura, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor struck the region at 03:41 UTC (22:41 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 44 km west-southwest of Sechura and occurred at a depth of 10 km.
