Seismic activity on Oct. 8: Earthquake close to Ruteng, Indonesia registered – magnitude 5.0

A 5.0 magnitude quake struck near Ruteng on Thursday around midday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor rattled at 04:48 UTC (12:48 local time), with its epicenter approximately 92 km north of Ruteng and a depth of 10 km.

Tremors past week

Last week, seven tremors with a magnitude 2.5 or higher have been recorded in the area. The largest, measuring 5.0, occurred in the same region on Oct. 4.
