Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake shakes close to Lautoka, Fiji on Sept. 14

BA, Western Division — A 5.0 magnitude quake rattled close to Lautoka at midday on Monday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor, which struck the area at 23:52 UTC (11:52 local time), was centered roughly 127 km northwest of Lautoka. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 4.8 event, but later upgraded it to 5.0.
