JI’AN TOWNSHIP, Hualien County — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.1 magnitude quake shook close to Hualien City Tuesday morning.

At 23:52 UTC (07:52 local time), the region was jolted by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 10 km, with its epicenter about 4 km south-southwest of Hualien City.
