Sunday afternoon, a 5.3 magnitude quake was registered close to Miyako, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

At 08:07 UTC (18:07 local time), the region was struck by a tremor. The earthquake hit at a depth of 21 km, with its epicenter roughly 120 km east of Miyako.
