ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — A 5.8 magnitude quake occurred close to Attu Station on Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
A tremor jolted the area at 2:15 p.m. (2:15 a.m. local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was about 145 miles east-southeast of Attu Station and occurred at a depth of 6 miles. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.6 event, but later upgraded it to 5.8.
