Update: Earthquake jolts region close to Soe, Indonesia on May 28 – 5.2 magnitude detected

SOUTH TIMOR TENGAH REGENCY, East Nusa Tenggara — A 5.2 magnitude quake shook close to Soe on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which hit the area at 01:46 UTC (09:46 local time), was centered about 70 km south of Soe. It occurred at a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.1 event, but later upgraded it to 5.2.

On May 25, one more magnitude 4.9 earthquake was registered in the area, also close to Soe.
