Update: 5.0 magnitude earthquake reported near Banda Sea on May 5

A 5.0 magnitude quake jolted close to Banda Sea on Tuesday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor hit the area at 02:38 UTC (11:38 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was of Banda Sea and occurred at a depth of 161 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.3 event, but later downgraded it to 5.0.
