Update: Earthquake shakes region close to Balangonan, Philippines on June 8 – 6.5 magnitude recorded

A 6.5 magnitude quake slammed near Balangonan on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor struck at 00:55 UTC (08:55 local time), with its epicenter roughly 18 km southwest of Balangonan and a depth of 75 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 6.4 event, but later upgraded it to 6.5.
