Update: Earthquake of 5.5 magnitude reported near Ende, Indonesia on Aug. 17

A 5.5 magnitude quake struck close to Ende on Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The USGS reported a tremor in the region at 00:46 UTC (08:46 local time). The epicenter was approximately 62 km north-northwest of Ende, at a depth of 16 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 5.7 event, but later downgraded it to 5.5.
