A 5.9 magnitude quake occurred close to Caluula on Thursday around midnight, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck at 21:07 UTC (00:07 local time), with its epicenter roughly 144 km north of Caluula and a depth of 10 km. Seismologists first reported it as a 6.0 event, but later downgraded it to 5.9.
