Earthquake of magnitude 5.8 recorded near Adak, AK on Aug. 28

ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — the U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 5.8 magnitude quake occurred near Adak Thursday morning.

At 11:07 a.m. (2:07 a.m. local time), the region was hit by a tremor. The earthquake struck at a depth of 84 miles, with its epicenter approximately 147 miles west of Adak.
