Earthquake of magnitude 5.0 recorded near Ende, Indonesia on Aug. 15

A 5.0 magnitude quake occurred close to Ende around midday Saturday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A tremor rattled the area at 03:54 UTC (11:54 local time). The earthquake’s epicenter was about 67 km north-northwest of Ende and occurred at a depth of 10 km.

Tremors past week

12 quakes of magnitude 2.5 or greater have been reported in the region over the last week, two of them larger than magnitude 6.1. The largest one was a 7.7 earthquake that slammed the same region on Aug. 15.
