Earthquake measuring 5.2 shakes area near Isangel, Vanuatu on Sept. 9

A 5.2 magnitude quake jolted near Isangel on Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor hit the region at 17:01 UTC (04:01 local time). It occurred at a depth of 10 km with the epicenter approximately 76 km east-southeast of Isangel.

Tremors last week

During the past week, there have been three quakes of magnitude 2.5 or above centered nearby. The largest one was a 5.6 magnitude earthquake that struck in the same region on Sep. 6.
