ALEUTIANS WEST CENSUS AREA, AK — A 5.2 magnitude quake jolted near Nikolski on Thursday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor, which struck the area at 1:03 p.m. (2:03 a.m. local time), was centered about 63 miles south-southwest of Nikolski. It occurred at a depth of 6 miles.

Over the last week, there have been 60 tremors of magnitude 2.5 or above centered nearby. The largest, measuring 6.3, occurred in the same region prior to this quake.
