Earthquake hits area near Lae, Papua New Guinea: 5.1 magnitude detected on Jan. 14

Wednesday morning, a 5.1 magnitude quake was registered close to Lae, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremor jolted at 15:29 UTC (01:29 local time), with its epicenter located about 119 km north of Lae and a depth of 173 km.
