BURKA, Takhar — According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a 5.3 magnitude quake shook near Nahrīn Friday morning.

The tremor, which jolted the area at 05:39 UTC (10:09 local time), was centered approximately 27 km north-northeast of Nahrīn. It occurred at a depth of 35 km.
