5.0 magnitude earthquake hits close to Isangel, Vanuatu on Jan. 14

WEST TANNA, Tafea Province — A 5.0 magnitude quake was recorded near Isangel Wednesday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor jolted the area at 23:38 UTC (10:38 local time). It occurred at a depth of 117 km with the epicenter located roughly 228 km south-southeast of Isangel.
