Update: Seismic activity on Dec. 21 – 5.2 magnitude earthquake close to Tual, Indonesia registered

A 5.2 magnitude quake was detected near Tual on Sunday around midday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The tremor struck the area at 04:02 UTC (13:02 local time). It occurred at a depth of 35 km with the epicenter situated roughly 206 km southwest of Tual. The magnitude was originally reported as 5.1 but later upgraded to 5.2.

Another magnitude 4.4 quake was recorded in the region over the last week; it also shook near Tual three days ago.
