System name: Fay

At 10 p.m. Saturday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Fay weakened and had devolved from a tropical storm into a tropical depression with sustained winds of 35 mph. Tropical Depression Fay is in the Atlantic Ocean, 1,125 miles west-southwest of the Azores. The system, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, is moving south at 2 mph.

“A turn to the southwest is expected starting early next week, along with an increase in forward speed,” according to forecasters. They also said “Little change in strength is forecast over the next several days.”
