At 4 p.m. Saturday, the National Hurricane Center issued an advisory stating that Fay weakened and had devolved from a tropical storm into a tropical depression with sustained winds of 35 mph. Tropical Depression Fay is in the Atlantic Ocean, 1,120 miles west-southwest of the Azores. The system, with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, is moving south at 2 mph.

“Little change in strength is forecast over the next several days.! ,” according to analysts.
